Visualizing your enterprise's Copilot usage provides valuable insights into developer interactions with GitHub Copilot, whether through code completion or conversational chat. This analysis reveals which programming languages are most frequently utilized with AI, aiding in the identification of critical tech stacks, areas requiring upskilling, investment opportunities in the software development lifecycle (SDLC), and teams proficient in leveraging advanced tools such as large language models (LLMs) to enhance productivity and code quality. In addition to this, you will be able to understand the trend of seat activation, distribution, dormancy, and billing.

🧰 Prerequisites

Before you begin, make sure you have:

• ✅ Access to the Power BI online service
• ✅ A GitHub account with the right permissions
• ✅ A Personal Access Token (PAT) with the required scopes

🛠️ Step 1: Install the Dashboard

1. Head over to the AppSource listing.
2. Click Get it now and follow the prompts to install it into your Power BI workspace.
3. After installation, click Go to app or find it under Apps in the left-hand nav.

⚙️ Step 2: Configure Your Parameters

1. Click Connect your data from the yellow banner.
2. Fill in the following:
   • Enterprise: Your GitHub Enterprise slug
   • OrganizationList: (Optional) Comma-separated list of orgs
   • GitHubAPI: Default is https://api.github.com
   • GHASStandalone: true or false depending on your setup

Click Next to continue.

🔐 Step 3: Authenticate

1. Choose Basic authentication.
2. Enter your GitHub username and PAT.
3. Make sure your PAT includes:
   • read:org
   • manage_billing:enterprise
   • manage_billing:copilot
4. Set privacy level to Public.
5. Click Sign in and connect.

⏳ The dashboard will now refresh and pull in your data. The time it takes depends on the size of your enterprise and number of Copilot-enabled orgs.
